I Am A Seed

During this prayer space, one recognizes one’s talents and good characteristics and a way how he/she uses them to help others benefit from them.

Equipment: nest template, brown crayon, 5 seeds (any kind will do), pen, pencil

Related to Liturgy: Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)

26And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth; 27and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not how. 28The earth beareth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29But when the fruit is ripe, straightway he putteth forth the sickle, because the harvest is come.

30And he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth? 31It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown upon the earth, though it be less than all the seeds that are upon the earth, 32yet when it is sown, groweth up, and becometh greater than all the herbs, and putteth out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof.

33And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it; 34and without a parable spake he not unto them: but privately to his own disciples he expounded all things.

26U qal: “Is-Saltna ta’ Alla hi bħal meta raġel ikun xeħet iż-żerriegħa fl-art. 27Rieqed jew imqajjem, billejl jew binhar, iż-żerriegħa tinbet u tikber, bla ma jaf kif. 28L-art trodd minnha nfisha l-ewwel il-barma, imbagħad is-sbula, imbagħad il-qamħ mimli fis-sbula. 29U meta l-frott isir, malajr il-bidwi jmidd idu għall-minġel, għax ikun wasal żmien il-ħsad.”

30U qal: “Ma’ xiex sejrin inqabbluha s-Saltna ta’ Alla, jew b’liema parabbola nfissruha? 31Qisha żerriegħa tal-mustarda; din meta tinżara’ fil-ħamrija, hi l-iċken fost iż-żrieragħ kollha fuq l-art; 32imma wara li tinżara’ tikber u ssir l-akbar waħda fost il-ħxejjex kollha, u toħroġ friegħi wesgħin, hekk li l-għasafar tal-ajru jkunu jistgħu jistkennu għad-dell tagħha.”

33B’ħafna parabboli bħal dawn kien ixandrilhom il-kelma, kif kienu jistgħu jifhmuha huma, 34u mingħajr xi parabbola ma kienx ikellimhom; imma lid-dixxipli tiegħu, meta kien ikun waħdu magħhom, kien ifissrilhom kollox.

Have you ever had a school project? Do you remember how from a two word title you managed to find information and images? Through the information and images, than, you created the whole project on a scrapbook or paperboard. Thus the title now has a different meaning and not just a two word phrase. Jesus uses this same dynamic to compare the Kingdom of God with a mustard seed.

Hold the five seeds in the palm of your hands. (all types of seeds will do – plant or fruit)
While glancing at the seeds, think about your positive characteristics/talents
On the nest template, attached the five seeds.
Underneath every seed, write your positive characteristics/talents
Spare a small prayer to God asking him to give you strength to do your best to help others benefit from your talents/characteristics.
