There are a variety of options for how and where to set up prayer spaces in a school environment. For example, prayer spaces can be set up in a school hall, in corridors, in the foyer, in a particular room, in a schoolyard or garden, in the chapel or any other space available on the school premises.

Prayer Spaces and Holy Mass at Boys Learning Support Centre, Hamrun

On Friday 15th April 2019, students and educators at the Boys Learning Support Centre, Hamrun, came together to pray and reflect on prayer spaces which were set up in the media room and the foyer.   What students said: “Thank you for encouraging me to be the best version of myself and to dismiss the things that truly don’t matter”.  Students appreciated the Friendship prayer space most as they thought about strengthening their friendships rather than damaging or breaking them… Read more »

Prayer Spaces at St George Preca College Pieta Primary School

St Ġorg Preca College Pieta Primary school was one of the schools that set prayer spaces as spiritual exercises. On the 8th, 9th and 10th April 2019, about 200 students from year 1 to year 6 experienced in different ways these moments of personal prayers and reflections as a class. Prayer Spaces in St Theresa College St Venera primary school

Some St Venera primary school staff prepared the Prayer Spaces in one of their classrooms. During the weeks of Lent, there were many opportunities in schools to share the power of God’s forgiveness and help the children and young people to understand it and acknowledge that they need to receive God’s mercy. Birkirkara primary school attends spiritual exercises at the Archbishop Seminary

During the first week of April, primary children from Yr 4, Yr 5 and Yr 6 classes from St Theresa College Birkirkara primary school attended for spiritual exercises at the Archbishop Seminary, tal-Virtú, Rabat. Appreciating Life Retreat – Our Lady of Immaculate School

On Friday 15th March 2019, Dar il-Ħanin Samaritan in St Venera welcomed a group of 68 Form 1 students from Our Lady of Immaculate School, Hamrun for a half day retreat focussing on Appreciating Life. Dar il-Ħanin Samaritan

Prayer Spaces at ‘Dar tat-Talb’, Lunzjata in the middle of the wonderful countryside

From the 21st to the 28th March 2019, about 200 students from St Elias College participated in Prayer Spaces which were set up at Dar tat-Talb Lunzjata, a Carmelite retreat house in the middle of the beautiful countryside in Rabat.

St Margaret College Secondary School Verdala students launch the Pope’s slogan: ‘Give up gossiping for Lent

On Ash Wednesday, a group of students at St. Margaret College Verdala Secondary School together with their teacher Martin Azzopardi sdc and school Spiritual Director Fr Carmelo Spiteri ocd launched the Pope’s slogan: ‘Give up gossiping for Lent’. Students were inspired by the message of Pope Francis whom on the 3rd March while reciting the Angelus Prayer in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, he urged all the faithful to reflect upon the line of the day’s Gospel: “Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?” The Pope said: “We all know it usually is easier or more comfortable to notice and condemn the defects and sins of others rather than seeing our own with that kind of clarity,”  So Lent is the time to open our eyes from not going looking for others’ defects, but look first at our own… Read more »
