Welcome

The SLT or any educator who is conducting the assembly will address the students positively saying Good morning to all. One can start this assembly stop for a moment of silence to be mindful of the present moment. Then make the sign of the cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen”

Introduction

This morning we are going to start our day by getting to know what had happened once to a boy named Nicholas during Christmas time. We are going to see how he met St Claire and what we had learnt about love.

Watch

Reflective Thought

Love is a gift from God. We pass it on to each other through our actions. We might not be feeding the poor, but we can show kindness, listen and respect everyone. God wants to give his love this Christmas and always. In this way we too can say:
I can love because God loves me, and I can give because God gave me.
(Depending on your audience you can specify that God gave us his Love when he sent baby Jesus to be one like us, to teach us by words and actions and to save us.)

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for loving us and the whole world so much. Give us the courage so that during this Christmas and always we love others because you loved us first. Amen.

Conclusion

We will end our assembly this morning with the same words St Claire used to salute Nicholas. I am going to tell you: God loves you. Go in peace.

Love is a gift from God. We pass it on to each other and from one generation to another through our actions. We might be collecting money, food and items to help the poor. We can show kindness, listen to one another and respect everyone. God wants to give his love this Christmas and always. He is just asking us to prepare hearts to serve as a cradle for God’s love. In this way we too can say:
I can love because God loves me, and I can give because God gave me.

Introduction

This morning we are going to start by listening to the prayer these two are making and we are going to join them and make this prayer ours too!

Watch

Reflective Thought

“Father, Father, Father, help us. Send some guidance from above ‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’ Where is the love?” This was our prayer this morning.
Love is passed on from generation to generation as a gift, through our actions to and for others. Love knows no race, no gender, no social status, no political and religious beliefs.
We have the ability to share God’s love at times even without much effort and thinking through simple acts of kindness, listening to a friend in need and/or respecting each other’s dignity. Love chose a manger and even this Christmas it is choosing the manger of our hearts.

Prayer

Our dear God you who loved the world so much please give us the wisdom and the courage so that during the Christmas Time and always we will let your love be known in all that we think, say or do. Amen.

Optional

Depending on your school community you can end this assembly with this video.
