Għan: Nippreparaw rwieħna għat-twelid ta’ Ġesù waqt l-Avvent. 

X’ser nitgħallmu (W.A.L.T.): 

Għat-tfal:

  • Ser nagħmlu lista ta’ affarijiet li għadna bżonn biex norganiżżaw surprise birthday party.
  • Ser naraw kif dawn l-affarijiet ifakkruna biex nippreparaw lilna nfusna għal birthday party ieħor.
  • Insiru nafu xi tfisser il-kelma Avvent.
  • Ser niddiskutu għalfejn l-Avvent huwa importanti wkoll waqt din il-pandemija.

Għall-edukaturi/direttur spiritwali:

  • Nagħmlu lista tal-affarijiet li huma meħtieġa biex niċċelebraw festin – birthday party.
  • Nirrelataw l-affarijiet materjali li semmejna fil-lista ma’ ħtiġijiet oħra spiritwali.

Introduzzjoni – 5 min

Wara li jilqa’ lit-tfal li ser ikunu qed jipparteċipaw f’din l-attività, id-direttur spiritwali jara li kulħadd sab postu, iħalli ftit minuti fis-skiet biex kulħadd ikun jista’ jinġabar u jara li għandu l-attenzjoni tat-tfal. 

Id-direttur spiritwali jitlob lit-tfal jimmaġinaw li xi ħadd speċjali fl-iskola ser jagħlaq żmienu.  Jistaqsihom biex jagħtuh ideat ta’ kif jista’ jagħmel din il-ġurnata iktar speċjali għal din l-persuna.  Wara diskussjoni żgħira jaqblu li jkun sabiħ jekk jorganizzaw festin (mat-tfal il-kelma birthday party tinftiehem iktar).

Pass 1 – 5 min

Tistieden lil kull student/a biex jaħseb f’dak li jaħseb li hemm bżonn biex nippreparaw għal din il-festa.  L-ideat li jiġu f’moħħu/ha jiktibhom jew ipenġihom fuq l-A4 whiteboard jew fuq il-karta tal-isketch book.  Wara li kulħadd jikteb jew ipenġi dawn l-affarijiet l-istudenti jaqsmu ma’ xulxin il-ħsibijiet tagħhom billi juri dak li kitbu jew penġew lil sħabhom. 

Il-lista għandha tinkludi (Din il-lista għandha tibqa’ fuq il-board):

Pass 2 – 5 min

Huwa jkompli billi jieqaf għal ftit sekondi daqslikieku qed jiftakar f’xi ħaġa importanti biex iqanqlilhom kurżità u jgħidilhom li ftakar li xi ħbieb tiegħu wkoll qed jippreparaw biex jiċċelelbraw il-birthday ta’ xi ħadd.  Ikompli billi jistieden lill-istudenti biex jiltaqgħu ma’ dawn il-ħbieb tiegħu u flimkien miegħu jaraw kif sejrin fil-preparamenti tagħhom.

Bil-ġenn u l-għaġla ħarbtu kollox.  Is-siġra tal-Milied li nkisret,  kienu ser iqabbdu kullimkien biex jixegħlu x-xemgħat kollha f’daqqa, spiċċaw b’uġiegħ ta’ żaqq għaliex kielu ċ-ċikkulata tal-kalendarju f’daqqa u ma tawx ċans lilhom infushom biex jieħdu gost ikantaw flimkien, tilfu l-pjaċir li jippreparaw flimkien għal din l-okkażżjoni speċjali.

Il-post huwa l-qalb tagħna mżejna bl-affarijiet tajba li nagħmlu bħal meta nħobbu lil xulxin, meta nferħu lill-oħrajn, meta nagħmlu kuraġġ lil xulxin u nġibu l-paċi kull fejn inkunu b’mod speċjali waqt dan iż-żmien tal-Covid-19.

  • Ikel u kejk bix-xemgħat:

It-talb huwa l-ikel tagħna u permezz tal- girlanda tal-Avvent inkunu nistgħu nixegħlu x-xemgħat.

  • Inviti:

Aħna ser nistiedu lill-oħrajn biex jiċċelebraw magħna billi nfakkru lil kulħadd li l-Milied mhux dwar ir-rigali u l-ikliet imma dwar it-twelid ta’ Ġesù f’qalbna. 

  • Mużika:

Nieħdu gost inkantaw u nisimgħu l-mużika ta’ żmien l-Avvent u wara, ta’ żmien il-Milied. 

  • Rigal:

Lilna nfusna, l-affarijiet tajbin li nagħmlu bħal meta nuru rispett lejn kull bniedem u lejn kull ħlejqa oħra u  l-ħbiberija tagħna ma’ Ġesù ser ikunu r-rigali tagħna. 

Konklużjoni – 5 min

Bħala konklużjoni ta’ din l-attività ser isir ftit ħin fit-talb.  L-istudenti ser jiġu ggwidati biex jitolbu/jitkellmu ma’ Alla u jistaqsuh biex jgħinhom jgħixu u jiċċelebraw l-Avvent bis-sens.  Il-girlanda tal-Avvent tista’ titpoġġa f’post ċentrali u fin-nofs tagħha titqiegħed maxtura vojta biex tgħin lit-tfal jirrelataw kollox mal-ħsieb li jippreparaw qalbhom biex fiha jitwieled Ġesù.  Dan il-link jista’ jintuża bħala mużika fl-isfond waqt dan il-ħin ta’ talb.

We Are Learning To (W.A.L.T.):

For kids:

  • Help me to make a list of the things we need to organise a surprise birthday party.
  • See how these things can remind us of how we can prepare ourselves for an other special birthday party. 
  • Getting to know the meaning of the word Advent. 
  • We will discuss why Advent is important even during this Covid-19 pandamy. 

For the educator/spiritual director: 

  • Listing important things which need to be prepared so as to celebrate a birthday party.
  • Relating these material things which are needed for a celebration to spiritual ones.
  • Defining what is  Advent.
  • Recognizing the importance of Advent even during this Covid-19 pandemic with which we are to learn to accept, adapt to and carry on with our purpose in life.

Time:  30 mins

Resources:

  • Possibly an Advent Wreath, 
  • Possibility of an A4 size whiteboard which the students make use of during other lessons or a piece of a4 size drawing paper or sketch paper which they make use of during art lessons.

Introduction – 5 min

After giving a warm welcome to all the kids who will be participating in this activity, the Religious Counsellor will take some time and wait until everyone settles down and the kids are waiting in silence to listen to what he has to say. 

The Religious Counsellor will ask the kids to imagine that someone special in the school is going to have his birthday.  He will ask them for ideas to make this day a special one.  Agree with them to prepare a party

Step 1 – 5 min

Each student is to think of, write and/or draw what is needed for this celebration on their own small whiteboard (if they make use of one already for example during maths lessons). Otherwise, they can write or draw on a piece of paper and show it to the rest of the class. 

The list is to include (he will keep a note of this list on the board):

  • A place with decorations
  • Food and a cake with candles
  • Invitations
  • Music
  • A Gift

Step 2 – 5 min

He will then stop and tell them that some friends of his are preparing for a special birthday too!!! He will invite them to meet his friends and see how they are getting along with their preparations.

Step 3 – 10 min 

Processing of the video:

  • Whose birthday are they preparing for?

The birthday of Jesus

  • What is the time of preparation called?

Advent

  • How are they getting along in their preparations?

Bad and they have to start all over again.

  • What happened?

They rushed and ruined everything.  A tree which broke, they risked a fire to burn all the candles at once, ended up having a tummy ache, had no time to sing and enjoy themselves while they sang, they ended up doing everything without having fun doing it and preparing for this celebration.   

  • How are they living advent time?

Meaningless because they lost hope, they are not thinking of how to love others, they rushed too much and missed the joy of knowing that Jesus is soon going to be born in their hearts and they are not living this time in peace.

  Have you ever thought that the preparation time is boring?

Space for their experiences…. 

  • Who can remember how the video ended?

With a question.  What are we going to do until Christmas?

Step 4 – 10 min

  • A place with decorations:

Our hearts are decorated with acts of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. (If an Advent Wreath can be available label the candles).

  • Food and a cake with candles: 

Prayer and we can also prepare the Advent Wreath to help us with our prayer time and light up the candles (show the Advent wreath). 

  • Invitations:

We will invite others to celebrate with us by word of mouth, reminding others and grownups that Christmas is not about things and presents but about Jesus being born in our hearts.  

  • Music: 

Enjoy listening to Advent and Christmas music.

  • A Gift:

Ourselves, our good deeds including the respect we show towards everyone and every created thing, our friendship with Jesus will be our gift to him.

Conclusion – 5 min

Some time in prayer, asking God to help us celebrate and live Advent in style. The Advent Wreath can be placed in the middle and in the middle of it, an empty cradle can be placed to help students visualize for whom we are preparing our hearts.  The following link can be used as background music during this quiet/ thinking/ praying time.

  • Allura jekk il-Milied qiegħed fil-qrib mela dan iż-żmien li qegħdin fih x’insejħulu? 

Iż-żmien ta’ qabel il-Milied hu l-Avvent.

  • Taħsbu li l-klipp li rajna għandu b’xi mod x’jaqsam mal-Avvent? 

Permezz tad-diskussjoni jitwassal il-ħsieb li waqt dan iż-żmien tal-Avvent Ġesù qiegħed iħabbat fuq il-bibien ta’ qalbna. Ser inħalluh jidħol?

Wara ftit sekondi ta’ riflessjoni id-direttur spiritwali jerġa’ jistaqsi l-mistoqsija: Ser tħallih jidħol? 

Jista’ jkun li dan il-vidjo klipp jgħinkom taslu għal xi tip ta’ tweġiba:

Il-ħsieb li jrid jiżvolġi wara l-vidjo:

Fuq biċċa karta ikteb kelma waħda li ġiet f moħħok wara li rajt dan il-vidjo qasir (jekk ikun hemm il-possibiltà li jintuża’ mentimeter tool il-kliem li jiktbu l-istudenti jkunu jistgħu jiġu ppreżentati b’mod aktar effettiv biex ikun jista’ jsir ħsieb dwarhom).

L-enfasi ssir fuq il-kelma messy…li forsi huma jinterpretaw bħala mgerfex jew imħawwad.  Hekk il-ħsieb ta’ qabel ikun  jista’ jkompli jiżvolġi:

  • Ser tħallih jidħol f’ħajtek u f’qalbek ankè fit-tgerfix, f’dak li forsi għalik ma jagħmilx sens, fil-ħsibijiet, fil-mistoqsijiet u d-dubji tiegħek? 
  • Ser tħallih jiġi għandek u miegħek fit-tgerfix forsi li tesperjenza ma’ nies qrib tiegħek, familja u ħbieb? 
  • Ser tħallih ikun parti mill-ħolm tiegħek anke jekk inti stess għadek ma tafx eżatt xi trid minn ħajtek?

Kif ser tipprepara lilek nnifsek biex tilqgħu? Dawn il-punti li joħrġu mill-vidjo jerġgħu jiġu mwassla.

  • Nitlob – nitkellem iktar m’a Alla dwar dak li nkun qed inħoss, dwar il-ħsibijiet tiegħek u l-ħolm u x-xewqat tiegħek.
  • Inħobb b’mod konkret lill-oħrajn.
  • Ninkoraġixxi lil min ikun qed jaqta’ qalbu.
  • Naqsam il-ferħ tiegħi speċjalment ma’ min jibda biex jingħalaq fir-rabja u d-dwejjaq.
  • Infittex li nġib il-paċi ma’ kull min niltaqa’.

Konklużjoni – 5 min

Bħala konklużjoni ta’ din l-attività ser isir ftit ħin fit-talb.  L-istudenti ser jiġu ggwidati biex jitolbu/jitkellmu ma’ Alla u jistaqsuh biex jgħinhom jgħixu u jiċċelebraw l-Avvent bis-sens.  Dawn il-links jistgħu jintużaw bħala mużika fl-isfond waqt dan il-ħin ta’ talb.

After giving a warm welcome to all the youths who will be participating in this activity, the Religious Counsellor will take some time and wait until everyone settles down and participants are waiting in silence to listen to what he has to say.

Through the processing of their answers, the conclusion is to be because Christmas is soon coming.

  • So, if Christmas is soon coming what time are we living now?

Time before Christmas – Advent.

  • What link can you see between Advent and this short clip we just saw?

Through the processing of their answers, the conclusion is to be that during this time Christ is knocking on your hearts’ door.  Will you let him in?

Some reflection time and the question posed will be repeated: Will you let him in?

On a piece of paper write one word that came up to your mind after you saw this clip.  (If Mentimeter tool can be used online it will make the results more interesting for the participants to view and reflect upon). 

The focus will be drawn upon the word MESSY.  Leading to a setup on the previous lines of thought.

  • messy thoughts, 
  • messy things, 
  • messy family, 
  • messy life, 
  • messy dreams and hopes?

Step 4 – 10 min

How will you prepare your heart to let him in? Through the processing of the video these points which were already shown in the video will be highlighted: 

  • Praying –  talk more to God about my feelings, thoughts and hopes,
  • Loving others,
  • Encouraging others,
  • Bringing joy to the broken,
  • Seeking peace wherever I am. 

Conclusion – 5 min
