26Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee. 29But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be. 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. 31And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God. 36And behold, Elisabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren. 37For no word from God shall be void of power. 38And Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

It-taħbira tat-twelid ta’ Ġesù Kristu

26Imbagħad fis-sitt xahar Alla bagħat l-anġlu Gabrijel f’belt tal-Galilija, jisimha Nazaret, 27għand xebba, mgħarrsa ma’ raġel jismu Ġużeppi mid-dar ta’ David. Dix-xebba kien jisimha Marija. 28L-anġlu daħal għandha u qalilha: “Sliem għalik, mimlija bil-grazzja, il-Mulej miegħek.” 29Hi tħawdet ħafna għal dan il-kliem, u bdiet taħseb bejnha u bejn ruħha x’setgħet qatt tfisser din it-tislima. 30Iżda l-anġlu qalilha: “Tibżax, Marija, għax inti sibt grazzja quddiem Alla. 31Ara, inti se tnissel fil-ġuf u jkollok iben u ssemmih Ġesù. 32Hu jkun kbir, u jkun jissejjaħ Bin l-Għoli. Il-Mulej Alla jagħtih it-tron ta’ David missieru 33u jsaltan għal dejjem fuq dar Ġakobb, u ma jkunx hemm tmiem għas-saltna tiegħu.” 34Iżda Marija qalet lill-anġlu: “Kif ikun dan, ladarba ma nagħrafx raġel?” 35Wieġeb l-anġlu u qalilha: “L-Ispirtu s-Santu jiġi fuqek, u l-qawwa tal-Għoli tixħet id-dell tagħha fuqek. U għalhekk dak li jitwieled minnek ikun qaddis, u jissejjaħ Bin Alla. 36Ara, il-qariba tiegħek Eliżabetta, fi xjuħitha, hi wkoll nisslet iben fil-ġuf, u ġa għandha sitt xhur dik li għaliha kienu jgħidu li ma jistax ikollha tfal, 37għax għal Alla ma hemm xejn li ma jistax isir.” 38Imbagħad qalet Marija: “Ara, jiena l-qaddejja tal-Mulej: ħa jsir minni skont kelmtek!” U l-anġlu telaq minn quddiemha.

Many times, we get to know a lot about a person from the clothes s/he wears. If someone is wearing a police officer uniform, we get to know that he works as a policeman. Someone who serves wears an apron. We are all called to dirty our aprons and serve our God and one another with love.

Take an apron template and on it write your name as a sign that you want to serve God with love.
Take some time to think about your apron. Is it dirty? Are you using it? Are you serving your God with love?
Close your eyes and pray to God to help you serve him in everything.
