REFLECTION

Empathy is the capacity to place oneself in another’s shoes, in other words, to understand what another person is experiencing.

BIBLE VERSE

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross! (Phil 2:5-8)

ACTIVITY

Look at all your shoes, runners, bedside slippers, sandals, flip flops, or boots. As you look at the different shoes, renew your faith in the God who knows you through and through and who emphasise with you to the point of becoming a human being like yourself – this is Christmas. Look at the shoes again and let them remind you of various people that you meet in your daily lives and to have the same mindset as Christ in empathising with them.

PRAYER

Dear God, give me insight to understand other people around me and help me to show them support and empathy in such a way that reminds them of your great love to all humans.
