Welcome

The Head, SLT, or educator who is administering the assembly welcomes the students by saying good morning. One can start the assembly with the sign of the cross or a minute in silence.

Reflection

We say sorry when we do something bad. So, when we say sorry, it means that we are friends again. Let’s listen to the story: I’m Sorry – by Sam McBratney.

Song

Prayer

Oh my God, I am very sorry for doing such things which do not please you. Help me not to do this again. Amen.

Welcome

The Head, SLT, or educator who is administering the assembly welcomes the students by saying good morning. One can start the assembly with the sign of the cross or a minute in silence.

Reflection

When one says sorry or apologizes, it means one has realized he/she has done something wrong. When one apologizes he/she aims to make a positive change from a negative action. Learning to say ‘sorry’ means opening the pathway to humility.

Prayer

Let us think about a bad word we’ve said or a bad action we’ve carried out (ex. we lied, called names to others, or did not take care of the environment properly). Now, in a minute of silence let us say sorry to God for something wrong we’ve done. (The Head of School or the educator leading the assembly can show the image “Sorry God for…” during the minute of silence).

Introduction

Slide 2

It is very normal to have disagreements. We can be happier if we learn to change a conflict into a win-win situation.

Reflective thought

Slide 3

Conflict resolution skills help us to resolve our arguments with respect, without blaming others and being negative or making the situation with others worse.

We must also remember that sometimes, we also need to admit we are wrong and to say we are sorry for the wrong we do to others.

It is very normal to feel anger and sadness when people hurt you. Revenge and anger, however, will make you terribly unhappy. When you decide to forgive, you will find peace and freedom.

Slide 5

Asking for forgiveness and forgiving others gives you inner freedom. Explain that asking for forgiveness gives you freedom from guilt. Forgiving others gives you freedom from negative emotions such as anger or resentment. When you forgive from your heart you can move on and leave the past behind you.

Slide 6

Dear God,

Help us to make peace with each other. To resolve our arguments and conflicts with love and respect. Help us to forgive those who hurt us with the same generosity and mercy with which you forgive us. Amen
