Welcome

The SLT or any educator who is conducting the assembly will address the students positively saying Good morning to all. One can start this assembly stop for a moment of silence to be mindful of the present moment. Then make the sign of the cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen”

Introduction

The 8th of March is known as International Women’s Day. Let us watch what these girls want to share with us.

Reflective Thought

Every day we see great women. These children mentioned their mum but there can be other great women in our lives such as grannies, aunties, neighbours, foster or adoptive mummies, teachers, and others. Women who work hard. Women who love and care. Women who try their best. Women who want to create a better world for them, for other grownups and for all the children in the world.

Prayer

Dear God, we ask you to protect all the women and girls all over the world especially those who are not being respected. Amen.

Women who dream big and strive to reach their dreams. Women who are not being hurt or mistreated. Women who cannot sound their voice. Women who are being treated as slaves or as a property. Women who have no shelter or food. Girls who are banned from reading books, from education or using social media. Girls who are not allowed to express themselves, dance, draw or even play.

Prayer

Dear God, we ask you to protect all the women and girls especially those who are not being respected and are being mistreated. Amen.

Introduction

The 8th of March is known as International Women’s Day. Let us watch what this teenage girl wants to share with us.

Reflective Thought

The theme for this year’s Women’s International Day is #choose to challenge. It is true that we see great women who work hard to aspire their dream of creating a better and just world for them and for future generations but seeing them only is not enough. Together we need to raise awareness and challenge things which are not right and are disrespecting women and their dignity. We need to challenge behaviours which are accepted as being ok when they are not ok. We need to challenge inequality and injustice against women. We need to support women who love and care for future generations. We need to support women who are bearers of life. In all that we do and say we are to fight for the right to girls to be educated, for their right to express themselves in writing or artistically. We need to challenge the idea that women are like objects and that some fit in while others not. Girls and women have the right to be respected regardless of their race, physic, intellectual and artistic ability, and status.

Prayer

Dear God, we ask for your wisdom to challenge every disrespectful behaviour towards all women especially towards those who are close to us and courage to seek help. Amen.
