In this prayer space we are encouraged to change negative thoughts to positive ones so that we will feel more hopeful and strong especially in difficult situations.
Equipment: blank sheet of paper or smiley face templates, coloured markers and pen or pencil
The way we think affects how we feel and behave. Bad thoughts make us complain and feel helpless or sad. Positive thoughts empower us to feel in control of ourselves and our life so that we can deal with difficult situations with more hope and courage.
- Take a blank sheet of paper and draw two columns. In the first column think of those situations which made you feel sad and hopeless. Write the thoughts down and draw a sad face near each one.
- Think of how you can turn these negative thoughts into positive ones. Write them down and near each one draw a smiley face.
- Say or write a prayer asking God to help you to change your bad thoughts to good ones. Ask God to help you to be positive especially when life is difficult.
