Dear Friends,

A little over five years ago, Tandia Hughes joined the Prayer Spaces in Schools team. Since then, she has supported hundreds of prayer spaces, responded to countless emails (you may have received a few of them?), project managed our National Conferences, and generally made sure that everything worked. [insert massive round of applause here!]

The sad news is that she’s leaving the Prayer Spaces in Schools team this month. The good news, however, is that she’s not going far. As 24-7 Prayer’s new Director of Events, she’ll be in the same office and she’ll continue to oversee our Conferences and major events. The other good news is that we get to recruit someone new onto the team (more of that below). But for now, we want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Tandia for the last five years.

The latest news from Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, is that all pupils will return to school full time in the new term. Exactly how year groups are going to be kept separate, etc. isn’t clear. What does seem clear, however, is that pupils are going to need increased pastoral care and support. Research suggests that they feel anxious and uncertain about many things … exams and schoolwork, friendships and families, the Covid-19 virus itself. And if so, time and space for prayer and reflection will be needed more than ever.

Have you hosted a prayer space over the last couple of months? Or have you begun to plan one for the new term? If so, we’d love to hear from you, so that we can learn together.

Socially Distant Prayer Space

Bishop Canning Primary School in Devizes decided to go ahead with their annual prayer space for the children who were in school and sent ‘prayer space packs’ to those who were at home. You can read the full story here

Online Prayer Space

Bede Academy in Blyth hosted an online prayer space for their Year 7s and 8s who were all at home. More than 100 completed a series of prayer activities, including LOVE>FEAR, and some have been uploading photos and videos to the schools online classroom.

With Thanks,
