Welcome

Slide 1

The Head, SLT or educator who is leading the assembly welcomes the students by saying good morning. One can start the assembly with the sign of the cross or a minute in silence.

Introduction

Slide 2

The month of May is dedicated to the Virgin Mary who always tried to bring peace. This is why she is respected not just by Christians but also by people of other religions such as Islam.

Mary had a purpose in life and was aware of what is most important.

Slide 3

She teaches us that no matter what our situation, career or vocation is in life, we can use our influence, intelligence and talents to do good to others, to bring peace in the world by being of service to those who need our help. We can use our power to fight crime, poverty and injustice in the world.

Reflective thought

Slide 4

Sasha Vella gives us a good example of how we can use our influence to make a better world and encourage others to do so as well.

After undergoing serious abdominal surgery, Sasha Vella realised how precious life is and this gave her the energy and motivation to lobby in favour of the environment by protesting peacefully against the uprooting and transplanting of hundreds of trees.

Slide 6

Sasha Vella is a good example of how we can use our influence and leadership to bring a peaceful change to the world.

Prayer

Slide 7

Dear Mother Mary,

The month of May is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Help us to live with a purpose; to serve others and to be in tune with God’s plan for our lives. Help us to love God and to bring peace, justice and joy to every person we meet in our life and to the world. Amen.
