The Spiritual Development in Schools (SDS) team enjoyed animating vibrant prayer spaces at St. Theresa College Primary School in St. Venera, engaging students from Year 1 to Year 6 to reconnect with God, themselves and others. Throughout this enriching experience, children were encouraged to explore their spirituality and reflect on key virtues through interactive and creative prayer activities.

🧘‍♂️ Be Still – This serene station helped students find quiet moments to connect with God, learning the value of peace and reflection in their everyday lives.

🏖️ Sorry Sand—This station represented forgiveness. It allowed children to practice letting go of their mistakes by smoothing over the sand, symbolizing a fresh start.

🎯 Jumping for Joy – An energetic space where students express their joy and gratitude, reminding them to celebrate the good things in life.

🌍 Pray for the World—Students prayed for countries and people worldwide, fostering a sense of unity and empathy.

🎣 Fishing for Kindness – Here, children reflected on the virtue of kindness by “fishing” for acts of kindness they could perform, making kindness a habit.

Pom Pom Prayer – A joyful reminder of how each child is unique and precious, using colourful pom-poms to reflect on their value and gifts.

👫 Pipe Cleaner People—This station focused on praying for others, allowing students to create models of special people in their lives and offer prayers for their well-being.

💪 Being Brave: Encouraging students to pray for courage in difficult times helps them learn to face their fears.

💡 Be the Light – Children reflected on how they can be a light in someone’s life, just as others have been for them.

📞 Mobile Call/Big Questions – A chance for students to ask life’s big questions, imagining what they would ask God in a one-on-one conversation.

Be Still: Prayer Word

During this time one is inivted to be still and meditate on ma-ra-na-ta.

Lent: Sorry Sand

In this prayer space one will take time to think that God will forgive us if we ask for forgiveness and reflect on the forgiveness we were granted through the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Jumping for Joy

Easter brings joy so in this prayer space one thinks of someone or something that brings joy and makes you happy.

Pray for the World

This prayer space encourages one to look at the world map and think of family and friends living away and pray for them and their countries.

Be Still

This is a place to be still. To be at peace. There is no need to talk, no need to do anything.

Pom Pom Prayers

During this prayer space students and those carrying it out, recognizes how special and unique they are, and the pleasant aspect that we are all and have different perspectives.

Lent: Pipe Cleaner People

Inspired by Simon of Cyrene, who was special because he helped Jesus carrying the cross, one reflects and prays for a special person in ones life while creating ‘a pipe cleaner model’.

Being Brave

This space is to help one think of the situation where bravery is needed and to ask God for courage.

Be the Light

During this time one reflects on how one can be of support and encouragement to others, how one can be a light to those around them.

Lent: Mobile Call

Just like Pilate had a lot of questions to Jesus, this prayer space encourages one to think if they had to call God, what would the conversation be like.

Lent: Big Questions

Pontius Pilate asked about what is the truth, in this prayer space one is given the space to think about and write the question one would like to ask God.

This prayer space experience at St Theresa College was a heartwarming journey of spiritual growth, nurturing individual reflection and a sense of community. It was truly inspiring to witness the young students engaging in these meaningful activities, each station allowing them to explore different aspects of their faith and values. 🌈🙏
