Welcome

The Head, SMT or educator who is leading the assembly welcomes the students by saying good morning. One can start the assembly with the sign of the cross or a minute in silence.

Introduction

Today we shall think about the words ‘I am sorry’ and see how important it is to say this. Let us sing together/watch this video:

Early Primary Years

Reflective Thought

When we apologize, forgive, and make friends again, it means that we are loving that person who did something unpleasant to us. We children should always be happy and rejoice in others.

Saint Ġorġ Preca teaches us a lot about this: to be friends with everyone.

One of the Colleges is called Saint Ġorġ Preca after the first Maltese saint. We celebrate his feast on the 9th of May.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us to love one another and to remember to say the word ‘sorry’. Amen.

Welcome

The SLT or any educator who is conducting the assembly will address the students positively saying good morning to all. One can start this assembly with the sign of the cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen”

Introduction

Most probably, at one time or another we have all gone through some experience when someone hurt us with his/her words or actions. Our human instinct is to pay that person back but when we forgive, we feel much better. Let’s watch this video:

Reflective Thought

When we forgive and make friends again with the persons who have caused us pain, we feel like we were sick and healed. When we forgive, we get back on our feet, look forward and move on. Saint Ġorġ Preca refers to this as ‘forgiveness’. It is not an easy thing to do but if we remember that God is everywhere and He knows everything, we can do it and help these people and we feel happier too.

Prayer

Loving God, you are merciful, help us to always forgive especially when it is difficult and to be friends with everyone. Amen.

Merciful God, teach us to accept the good news that you console and forgive, so that we too can forgive those who hurt us. Only then will we continue to grow into better persons. Amen.

Forgiveness is essential to one’s spiritual life, health, and happiness. We all experience times when we need to forgive and it is not an easy experience. Saint Ġorġ Preca calls this action ‘forgiveness’. When we forgive, our heart is at peace, and we feel happy. It is important to focus only on our actions and to do what is right. When we forgive, with God’s help, we will also be able to help the person/s who caused us pain. Remember that God loves us, and we are called to imitate Him.

Prayer

Loving God, remind us that we are all sinners. Forgive us whenever we do something that does not please you, or even when we cause pain to others. Help us to forgive those who hurt us through their actions and make us friends with everyone. Amen.
