During sessions of Soul Speak, the children are given the opportunity to train in the Writing Process, through imaginative and reflective activities that encourage them to pray creatively.
Sessjonijiet ta’ ‘Soul Speak -Titkellem Ruħna’ Jispiraw Kittieba Żgħar u Ħassieba Riflessivi
L-Iżvilupp Spiritwali fl-Iskejjel, f’kollaborazzjoni ma’ L-Aġenzija Nazzjonali tal-Litteriżmu, organizzaw b’suċċess erba’ sessjonijiet ta’ kitba, qari u riflessjoni bl-isem ta’ ‘Soul Speak -Titkellem Ruħna’ għal studenti tas-Sena 3.1 u Sena 3.2 fil-Kulleġġ San Nikola, Skola Primarja Anton Agius, Rabat. Dawn is-sessjonijiet interattivi taw opportunità unika lit-tfal biex jesploraw il-Proċess tal-Kitba u l-spiritwalment permezz ta’ attivitajiet kreattivi u riflessivi.
Ħarsa Ġenerali – Sessjoni 1-4
L-ewwel sessjoni ffokat fuq l-identità personali, fejn l-istudenti skoprew x’jagħmilhom uniċi u speċjali permezz ta’ attivita tal-marki tas-swaba’, kitba ħielsa, u storja animata bl-isem ‘Saba’ Uniku’. Wara l-brejk, l-istudenti kellhom mument ta’ meditazzjoni biex isibu sens ta’ paċi nterjuri. Wara esperjenzaw spazji ta’ talb marbutin mal-ħames sensi, akkumpanjati minn mużika fl-isfond. Is-sessjoni kompliet b’attivitajiet ta’ strateġija ta’ qabel il-kitba, fejn l-istudenti użaw is-sensi biex jiktbu dwarhom infushom, u ntemmet b’nota ta’ rispons.

It-tieni sessjoni, bit-tema tal-imħabba u l-ferħ li naqsmu flimkien, bdiet b’filmat qasir dwar l-attijiet ta’ tjubija. L-istudenti kellhom ħin għal kitba ħielsa, ħolqu basket tat-tjubija bl-użu tal-bank tal-kliem, u użaw strateġija oħra ta’ qabel il-kitba—mistoqsijiet ‘Wh’—biex jiktbu messaġġ ta’ tjubija lil xi ħadd għażiż għalihom. Wara esperjenzaw spazji ta’ talb fosthom ‘Pipe Cleaner People’, ‘Nistadu għat-Tjubija u ‘Naqbżu bil-Ferħ’. L-istudenti esprimew il-mumenti favoriti tagħhom fuq il-Journal tagħhom u kitbu dwaru.

It-tielet sessjoni ffukat fuq L-inkwiet u kif nitilqu. Din is-sessjoni fetħet bl-istorja animata ‘Il-Luzzu tan-Nannu’, segwita minn meditazzjoni. Wara esperjenzaw spazji ta’ talb li għinuhom jiktbu l-biżgħat tagħhom permezz ta’ ‘Dgħajjes ta’ Nkwiet’, ‘Ilma li Jirilassa’, u ‘Erfa’ l-Piż’. Wara l-brejk, it-tfal ingħataw strumenti biex idoqqu u jkantaw permezz ta’ filmat qasir bl-azzjonijiet. Dan serva ta’ spunt biex kitbu l-ewwel abbozz dwar kif jistgħu jkunu strument ta’ ferħ għall-oħrajn. Ħadmu f’pari biex jagħtu rispons lil xulxin dwar l-abozzi li kitbu u kellhom iċ-ċans li jirrevedu u jeditjaw il-kitba tagħhom.

L-aħħar sessjoni tkellimna dwar it-temi tal-ħbiberija u l-kunflitti. L-istudenti għamlu mima tal- istorja animata bl-isem ta’ Kastell fir-Ramel, fejn raw li meta wieħed jaħfer, terġa tinbet il-ħbiberija. L-istudenti bnew kastelli tar-ramel ukoll.
Wara l-brejk, l-istudenti għamlu mument ta’ meditazzjoni. Komplew jirriflettu fuq l-ispazji ta’ talb ‘Katina ta’ Ħbiberija, ‘Ramel ta’ Maħfra’, u ‘Talb Jigsaw’. Kitbu l-ħsibijiet tagħhom fuq il-Journal u min xtaq, qasam il-kitba tiegħu mal-oħrajn.

Fl-aħħar ta’ din is-sessjoni, l-istudenti mlew ir-rota tal-Proċess tal-Kitba, bil-ħames stadji tal-kitba. L-istrateġija tas-‘Siġġu tal-Awtur’ tat spazju lill-istudenti biex jippreżentaw il-kitbiet u r-riflessjonijiet tagħhom quddiem il-klassi kollha. Is-sessjonijiet ingħalqu b’ċelebrazzjoni fejn l-istudenti ngħataw ċertifikat bħala rikonoxximent tal-parteċipazzjoni tagħhom.

Esperjenza li Tħalli Effett
Is-sessjonijiet ‘Soul Speak-Titkellem Ruħna’ kienet esperjenza b’saħħitha li għaqqdet l-iżvilupp tal-litteriżmu mat-tkabbir personali u spiritwali.
X’qalu l-għalliema:
- “Is-sessjonijiet kienu interessanti ħafna. L-istudenti kienu mħeġġa biex jipparteċipaw fl-attivitajiet kollha u ħerqana għall-attivitajiet ta’ talb interattiv u kreattiv.”
- “Il-ħaddiema pastorali kienu paċenzjużi ħafna u ppreparati tajjeb.”
X’qalu t-tfal:
- “Ħadt gost ħafna bl-attivitajiet kollha tat-talb, l-istejjer, il-journaling u l-pożittività. Ħadt gost nikteb stejjer u npinġi fil-Journal tiegħi.”
- “Għoġobni l-mument meta dħalna ġewwa d-dgħajsa u ktibna l-inkwiet tagħna fuq dgħajjes tal-karti.”
- “Għoġbitni t-teknika tar-rispons bejn il-pari biex nirrevedi l-kitba tiegħi.”
- “Ħadt gost bl-istorja Kastell fir-Ramel u r-rwol li ħadt. Li tgħid skuża u terġa’ ssir ħbieb hija tal-għaġeb.”

Spiritual Development in Schools, in collaboration with The National Literacy Agency, successfully organised four ‘Soul Speak (Titkellem Ruħna)’ sessions of writing, reading, and reflection for Year 4.1 and Year 4.2 students at St Nicholas College, Anton Agius Primary School, Rabat. These engaging sessions allowed children to explore the Writing Process through imaginative and reflective activities while deepening their understanding of spirituality.
Highlights from Session 1 to Session 4
The first session focused on self-identity, where students explored what makes them unique and special through activities like fingerprint art, journaling, and an animated story titled ‘Unique Finger’. After the break, students were led into a quiet moment of meditation, allowing them to step away from the busyness of daily life and discover a sense of inner peace before transitioning into prayer spaces, which were set up with activities related to the five senses, accompanied by soft background music. The session continued with pre-writing activities by using the senses and writing about the self. It concluded with an exit note.

In the second session, themed around love and the joy of sharing, students watched a video clip on acts of kindness, participated in journaling, created kindness bags using a word bank and used another pre-writing strategy, ‘Wh’ questions, to write a kind message to a dear person. Then they engaged in prayer activities ‘Pipe Cleaner People’, ‘Fishing for Kindness’, and ‘Jumping for Joy’. Students shared their favourite prayer moments in their journals.

The third session focused on worries and letting go, beginning with the animated story ‘My Grandfather’s Fishing Boat’. Students meditated before participating in prayer activities to help them release fears, such as ‘Worry Boats’, ‘Relaxing Water’, and ‘Weightlifting Worries’. After the break, they played instruments and an action song and wrote their first draft about bringing joy to others. They engaged in peer response and editing exercises.

The final session explored themes of friendship and conflict. While engaging with the animated story Sandcastle, students participated in a mime, embodying asking for forgiveness and rekindling friendships. They also brought the story to life by constructing sandcastles using kinetic sand and a tuff tray.
After the break, students entered a time of meditation, deepening their reflection and prayer through activities like Friendship Chain, Sorry Sand, and Jigsaw Prayers. They wrote their thoughts in journals and shared their insights with peers.

Following this, students completed the Writing Process Wheel, reinforcing the five stages of the writing process. The Author’s Chair strategy provided a platform for them to present their writings and reflections. The sessions concluded with a special celebration, where students were awarded certificates for their participation.

The sessions proved to be a powerful experience, combining literacy development with personal and spiritual growth.

- “Sessions were very interesting. Students motivated themselves to participate in all activities. They looked forward to the hands-on prayer activities.”

What children shared:
- “I loved all the prayer activities, stories, journaling, and positivity. I loved all the sessions. I had fun and enjoyed writing stories and drawing in my journal.”
- “I liked it when we went inside the boat and wrote our worries on paper boats.”
- “I liked the peer response technique to revise my writing.”
- “I loved the Sandcastle story and the role play. Saying sorry and making friends again is amazing.”
