7:30am – 12:00pm

Archbishop’s Curia, Floriana

Everyone

In the spirit of the Global Week of Prayer from September 1st to 7th, led by the 24-7 Prayer Movement worldwide, SDS invited the entire Church community – educators, students, families, religious, and laypeople — to unite in prayer for our school communities in Malta and Gozo.

At the beginning of the Season of Creation and as the new scholastic year approaches, we believe it’s the perfect moment to dedicate our schools to God. We believe what the psalmist writes: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.” (Psalm 127). So we pray that each classroom, staff room, corridor, and playground becomes a place where the civilisation of God’s love can grow — a civilisation rooted in compassion, justice, peace, inclusion, and joy.

  • Tuesday, 2nd September; Wednesday, 3rd September and Thursday, 4th September
  • Between 7:30 am and 12:00 pm
  • Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana

Together with various religious and educators, we prayed for minds to be enlightened, hearts to be compassionate, souls to be open to God, and for strength to carry out our educational mission in love. After Holy Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and various prayer activities were available in the Prayer Space at the Archbishop’s Curia.

Pray Where You Are

People were invited to stop and pray for our schools, wherever they are – at home, at work or on the bus. They could also send prayers by email or share the prayer on our online prayer wall. Prayers included a sentence, a scripture verse, a moment of silence, or a shared reflection with your colleagues or family.

💌 We encourage you to continue using the Padlet below to share your prayer or intention.
