For children aged 8 to 10 years and their families
Animated reading, Creative writing, Reflective hands-on activity
The National Literacy Agency, in collaboration with Spiritual Development in Schools, organised storytelling, creative writing, and reflection sessions as part of a programme entitled ‘With Reading and Writing I find a Beloved Space’ for children aged 8 to 10 years.
This animated reading session in Maltese and English from the published book ‘Spazju għal Qalbi – Beloved Space’ by author Silvana Cardona took place at the Centre for Physical Education and Sport, Joseph Abela Scolaro Street, Ħamrun. This session was an excellent opportunity for children to train in reading and creative writing through imaginative and reflective activities that help children pray creatively. Through the story “One World” from the book Spazju għal Qalbi-Beloved Space, the children reflected on the importance of remembering countries and peoples going through difficult times and suffering. The story conveyed a beautiful message of empathy, solidarity and unity.
Each participant received a sticker sheet featuring all the stories included in the programme, with a sticker awarded after each storytelling session to complete the sheet. This fun and engaging initiative aims to motivate children to attend future sessions, discover more stories and continue developing their reading, creative writing and reflective prayer skills.
Well done to all the children who attended and participated enthusiastically in this creative writing activity! At the end of the session, each child received a book, kindly donated by the National Literacy Agency.
