Objective: To help early years students understand that it is always a good time to do a good turn and that we should not wait for others to start.  Advent is also an excellent time to prepare our hearts for Christmas.

Welcome

Good morning, and welcome to all! Today is December, a very special time to prepare for Christmas. This period is known as Advent, a time of waiting and preparing our hearts for the coming of Baby Jesus.

Reflection

Let’s take a moment to think about what it means to prepare for something important. Imagine you are a farmer who needs to do some planting. If you plant at the right time, the plants will grow into a beautiful, healthy crop. But if you wait too long or plant them too early, they might not grow well. Just like the farmer, we need to prepare our hearts for Christmas.

Advent is a particular time that reminds us how important it is to be kind to each other, forgive each other and only do and say things that make others happy. Any time is a good time to start.

Song: Christmas Is A Time To Love

Prayer

Dear God, help us remember that preparing our hearts for Christmas means doing actions that will make others happy. Help us to make good turns every day, not only when we feel like it, so that we are good examples to others and spread love around us. Amen

Objective:  To help primary students understand that making a good turn is always a good time and that we should not wait for others to start.  Advent is also an excellent time to prepare our hearts for Christmas. Relate the concept of sowing seeds at the right time for a good harvest to preparing our hearts for the birth of Jesus.

Welcome

Good morning! Today is December, a very special time to prepare for Christmas. This period is known as Advent, a time of waiting and preparing our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Our theme for today’s assembly is “Sowing Hope – Acting at the Right Time.”

Reflection:

Let’s take a moment to think about what it means to prepare for something important. Imagine you are a farmer, and you need to plant seeds. If you plant them at the right time, they will grow into a beautiful, healthy crop. But if you wait too long or plant them too early, they might not grow well at all. Just like planting seeds, we need to prepare our hearts at the right time for the birth of Jesus.

During Advent, we are given this particular time to get ready to sow seeds of kindness, love, and hope. We shouldn’t wait for others to start; we can begin right now, doing our best to act in the right way and at the right time.

Inspirational Quote:

“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

This quote reminds us that we don’t need to wait for a special moment to do good. During Advent, we should reflect whether we are always ready to act with kindness and hope.

Song:  Christmas is a Time to Love (HD, with Lyrics)

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for this special time of Advent. Help us to remember the importance of preparing our hearts to welcome Jesus. Teach us to sow seeds of kindness, love, and hope daily. Help us to act at the right time and not wait for others to begin. Amen.

Objective: Snatching the occasion to respond faithfully during the suitable season of Advent

Welcome (1 min)

  • The educator greets students and reminds them about the theme of Sowing Hope and the importance of learning from others’ success stories.
  • The educator leads students to quiet down, starting with the sign of the cross and a simple thanksgiving prayer / for a short moment of silence to think about the beauty of a new morning.

Activity / Video (4 mins)

  • The educator introduces the December theme by saying that it is special to many because it coincides with (singingly) ‘’this the season to be jolly’ – and prompts the students to continue with the tune ‘Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la’.
  • The educator reacts to the fact that students have either sung or not by saying that sometimes we need to act at the right time: whether I will take the opportunity and act now or not.
  • (*Optional) The educator shows the following clip and then processes it by saying that the guy had to prepare well, but then it was time to do it (marriage proposal).

Reflection (4 min.)

  • The educator compares Advent, which calls us to do something in preparation for Christmas, with sowing that requires it to be done at the right time/season.
  • The educator takes feedback about how to prepare for Christmas and how to prepare on time and then rephrases that Advent teaches us to hope—the kind of hope that a new baby brings to the world, the hope that we must let be sown in our own lives and others.
  • The educator snatches the occasion to introduce a ‘sowing hope’ charity initiative for families in need during Advent.

Prayer (1 min.): Dear God, thank you for this holy time of Advent. Please help us to snatch out the occasion during the weeks leading to Christmas to let hope grow within us and in the lives of those who lack it. Amen.
