pexels/kebs visuals: owning doubt, opening to the beyond

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.

1. Let us open our hearts to receive God’s Word

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Mt 28, 16-20)

pexels/min an: returning to what?

i. the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

Now they’re eleven not twelve!
A failure?
Back to Galilee
where everything had started!
Can they start afresh?
They went to the mountain
identified by Jesus!
Would he repeat the words: “Blessed are the poor in spirit”?

Reflect:

Where do you find it difficult to start again?

ii. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.

They worshipped him –
the One who seemed to have been conquered by darkness –
“He has risen, just as He said”
“His clothes as white as the light”
“His face shone like the sun”.

But some doubted!
Doubted what?
Him?
Themselves?
Each other?

But still they worshipped him!

Reflect:

What kind of doubt do you struggle with? What does it mean for you to worship Him?

iii. Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Two thousand years later and we’re here
with our failures
doubts
poverty

but
we enable others to take courageous steps
to immerse themselves in God
to adopt a lifestyle inspired by the Gospel!
We remain poor …
But never alone!

Reflect:

Listen to the trust that Jesus is communicating to you.
