Through its updated Safeguarding Policy, the Safeguarding Commission has established new operating standards to support the Archdiocese of Malta in its ongoing commitment to provide high‑quality pastoral work. Among these standards is the requirement for regular, high‑quality safeguarding formation, informed by best practice and delivered by the Safeguarding Commission.

To this end, we are offering four occurrences of the standard Safeguarding course within the Diocese of Malta: the Award in Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, delivered by the Pastoral Formation Institute in collaboration with the Safeguarding Commission. Upon successful completion, you will receive an MQF Level 4 certificate recognised by the Archdiocese of Malta, the State, and employers.

The course covers key safeguarding principles and practical measures for fostering safe pastoral environments.

By the end of the programme, you will be able to:

📜 Apply safeguarding policies and principles

⚖️ Understand legal duties under relevant child protection legislation

🚨 Recognise types, signs, and symptoms of abuse

🗣️ Respond appropriately to disclosures

🧭 Take the correct steps when concerns arise

🤝 Maintain professional boundaries
