Day 13 - Feast of St Lucy
REFLECTION
Today is the feast day of St Lucy. The name Lucy means light. Lucy used to serve the persecuted Christians like the prisoners, by sharing bread and other goods which she used to carry them freely in a wreath of candles at the top of her head. She died as a martyr because of her faith.
BIBLE VERSE
In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven. (Proverbs 3:27)
ACTIVITY
Hold a tea light battery candle in your hands and reflect on how to let your light shine to give hope to others. Think of when and where you can brighten someone’s day by a smile, be there for a friend during their darkest days, give compliments and share your optimism with those who focus on negativity. Remember to be the kind of person that chooses to see the silver lining in a difficult circumstance.
PRAYER
Dear God, help me to be like St Lucy. I ask you to fill me with the light of faith, to avoid evil and be zealous in the performance of good works. Amen
