Duration: 20 minutes
Focus: Spiritual growth through example, prayer, and personal commitment


1. Opening and Context. 3 minutes

The teacher explains in simple language:

  • Some families choose a “saint of the year.”
  • The saint becomes a guide and companion for the year.
  • The person learns about the saint and asks for their prayers.

Key message:
Saints help us grow closer to God and live better lives.


2. Short Reflection. 4 minutes

Ask students to reflect silently, then briefly share:

  • Who do you admire and why?
  • What makes a person good or inspiring?
  • Why is it helpful to have someone to guide you?

Keep responses short. No right or wrong answers.


3. Activity: Choosing a Saint. 7 minutes

Teacher prepares:

  • A bowl or box with the names of saints.
  • One saint name per student.

Steps:

  • Pause for a short prayer to the Holy Spirit.
  • Each student receives one saint.
  • Students write the saint’s name on a card.

Optional support:

  • Show a picture or say a simple fact about some saints.

4. Personal Commitment. 4 minutes

Students complete one sentence on their card:

  • This year, with my saint, I will try to…

Examples:

  • Be more patient.
  • Pray once a week.
  • Help others.
  • Be more honest.

5. Closing Prayer. 2 minutes

Short prayer together:

  • Thank God for the saints.
  • Ask for guidance during the year.

End in silence.
