Prayer Spaces will be setup for students

Maltese & English

From 19th to 22nd October 2026, all Year 7 and Year 8 students at Gozo College Agius De Soldanis Middle School had the opportunity to experience Prayer Spaces in Schools, animated by the Spiritual Development in Schools (SDS) team.

Through ten interactive prayer activities linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students were invited to pause, slow down, reflect and connect with themselves, others, creation and God.

The prayer spaces offered students opportunities to bring their big questions to God, reflect on forgiveness through Forgiveness Stones, and express gratitude for the beauty of nature. They were also encouraged to think about the experiences of homeless people, reflect on their thirst for love and belonging, and pray for people and situations around the world.

Other activities invited students to consider God’s desire for the world and the ways they could contribute towards making it a more peaceful, just and caring place. Through Be Still, students were given the opportunity to become quiet, breathe deeply and spend a moment in God’s presence.

These meaningful experiences helped students explore their thoughts, feelings and faith in a creative and personal way, reminding them that prayer can be expressed through words, silence, reflection and action.

What SLT said:

“The sense of awe and enjoyment on the faces of the students and the positive feedback from educators made this experience truly memorable.”

What students said:

“I loved ‘The World Map’ prayer activity as I got to pray for my family living abroad and all the people of the World.

“Placing the candle on a country because I was praying for the healing of a particular person who lives in the country I chose.”

“The Forgiveness Stones” is about letting go of the hurt and forgiving people. I said a prayer for the hurt I received.”

A heartfelt thank you to Fr Reuben Gauci and the entire SDS team for their dedication and support in preparing and animating the prayer spaces. We also extend our gratitude to the Senior Leadership Team and the EkoSkola link teachers for coordinating this valuable experience and making it possible for all students to participate. The National Literacy Agency supported this Prayer Space session.

May the seeds of reflection, compassion, gratitude and hope planted during these prayer spaces continue to grow in the hearts of our young people, inspiring them to care for one another and for our common home.

This event is part of the Prayer Spaces programme.
