Day 25 - Christmas Day
REFLECTION
Happy Christmas! Here’s a postcard from Bethlehem! It’s the door to the Church built on the place of Christ’s birth. It’s called the Door of Humility since one must bend down, almost in reverence, to enter this holy site. This is not to say that all visitors here are worshippers. Also, this Christmas many are ‘just visiting’ but equally ‘bent’ – brokenness, hope-lessness, and sin are burdens that weigh us ‘down’. Take heart! Christmas reminds us that the Way to God is Humility: because God was first to ‘bend down’ in becoming one of us and with us, we are saved from the burden of trying to work our way ‘up’ without Him.
BIBLE VERSE
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Mt 11:28-30).
ACTIVITY
Go on google here https://church.mt/adoration-chapels-in-malta/ and look for the nearest adoration chapel. During this Christmastide (up to Epiphany) make time to visit Jesus there: He is still ‘with us’ in many ways but especially in the Eucharist. Jesus continues to ‘bend downwards’ and become smaller and smaller for you and for me. Go. He is waiting for you. Bend your knees. Find rest in Him alone this Christmas.
PRAYER
Dear Jesus, this Christmas I want to simply thank you and praise you for your immeasurable love, recognised best when I humble myself before you. Grant me this grace as I adore you and find rest in your Presence before the Holy Eucharist.
